- οἷος, οἵη, οἷον: relative word, (such) as, of what sort (qualis), with antecedent τοῖος expressed or implied. It may be causal in effect, also exclamatory, αἵματος εἶς ἀγαθοῖο, φίλον τέκος, ο ἀγορεύεις, ‘such words you speak,’ = ὅτι τοῖα, Od. 4.611; οἷον δή νυ θεοὺς βροτοὶ αἰτιόωνται, ‘how mortals do, etc.!’ Od. 1.32; foll. by inf., as implying capability, οἷος ἐκεῖνος ἔην βουλευέμεν, ‘such a man was he to plan,’ Od. 14.491; freq. the neut. οἷον, οἷα, as adv., as, how, what (sort), etc. οἷα τε in comparisons, οἷον δή exclamatory and causal, Od. 9.128, Od. 11.429.
